Make the right choice with golf club selections

When it comes to a golf bag, golf club selections can very specific and tailored to the individual golfer.

Some golfers rely heavily on their woods for a strong second shot. Other golfers are more proficient with their low irons to get the job done. Whatever the case may be for yourself, it is always best that you have an understanding of what each of your clubs will provide you.

Experienced golfers have a pretty good idea which clubs they would choose to have in their bag. Finding what works for you in virtually all situations is simply a matter of experience and trial and error.

Driver And Woods

It should go without say that one of the most important golf club selections in your bag would be your driver. This is the primary club that is going to launch your ball off the tee on any hole that is about a par 3. The reality of this is that without a driver in your bag you would not be able to complete a 456 yard hole on par. The driver will cut that distance at the very least by half and easily for an experienced golfer by 2/3rd’s.

Woods which you can get in an array of sizes are a rather versatile club. They can be used on short par 4’s or long par 3’s off the tee, as well as used for a second shot towards the green. With a selection of 3, 5, and 7 woods to choose from, you have plenty of options.

Your Irons

Irons can be something of a crapshoot when it comes to golf club selections, as you just never really know what you should pack on any given course. You can get irons that range from 1-9 however, not every golfer utilizes each and every one of these clubs. Some golfers will never actually touch their 1 iron, while other golfers swear by theirs.

Finding the right mix in your bag is again a matter of taste and experience. Sometimes it does not hurt to try out each iron from the 1-9 range on a driving range to see what your results are. This can help you make an informed decision.

Wedges

Wedges are a tricky player when it comes to golf club selections, as not all golfers truly understand how to utilize them correctly. The most common of all wedges and most likely to be in a beginner bag is the pitching wedge. This is a very handy club to have around, as it can allow for some close quarter shots within your short game.

The sand, lob, and loft wedges are less common, yet still can be vital tools if you know how to use them correctly. You can make the most of close in shots or over obstacles with these types of clubs that you otherwise would not be able to pull off. This is a situation where you would need to practice with these clubs in order for there to be an actual purpose for them to be in your bag as golf club selections.
