Anyone that plays a great deal of golf can tell you one of the worst things that you have to work through is a slice. This is a very common thing in golfers and this actually discourages many people who first start out. If you are looking for a way to eliminate the slice, you will need to make a few simple adjustments to your game. The only two things you need to pay attention too when you are going to drive the ball is the club face angle at impact and the ball flight path. How To Position Yourself If you are looking for a way to eliminate the slice in your drive, you are going to have to learn to stay strong through impact. This is usually done by keeping your lead shoulder down on the ball when you are approaching impact. Should you move your shoulder up, down, in or out, you will botch your drive. This is because you will be creating a form of cushion between the ball and the club face with the grass. This will kill the energy that you have created and more than likely send your ball in an errant direction. As your lead shoulder is still down, you are going to use your elbow as a form of hinge. This will keep the shoulder square to the ball and allow for better impact. You will notice that the ball will not roll off the club face at this point, which it normally would. Core Balance Is Everything One of the biggest mistakes that new golfers make when they are at the tee is that they fail to maintain balance throughout the golf swing. Sometimes it will take several attempts for you to find a position that is comfortable and this will make it hard for you to find the balance that you need. If you are not feeling comfortable and you feel that you are not centered with the ball, you need to stop and realign for the shot. This may mean that you might have to take a narrower stance, or it could mean that you may have to broaden your stance a little. What will make the most difference is that you feel balanced. It does not hurt to practice your stance away from the ball for a few moments, as this will allow you to set up at the tee when ready. Everything In Play If you are trying to eliminate a slice from your drive, you are going to want to see several different things in play. You will want to be sure that the wrist and elbow are in position and you will want to be sure that the lead shoulder is square. You also need to ensure that you stance is correct for the drive to go off without a hitch as well. If you feel that you are simply not getting that drive straight, then you may have to shift your stance a little to the right in order to compensate for the slice.
